Candidacy for Sedation Dentistry
At Dentistry At Its Finest, patient health and safety come first.
To determine if sedation dentistry is the right option, our team will evaluate each patient’s overall health.
We take time to review:
- Oral health
- Medical history
- Physical condition
In some cases, a patient may need clearance from their primary care physician before sedation is administered.
Sedation Dentistry Options
After an in-depth review of your medical history and current condition, our team may recommend one or more of the following sedation options:
- Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide): Administered through a nasal mask, this sedation takes effect quickly and allows patients to remain fully conscious during treatment. In some cases, laughing gas is used alongside other types of sedation.
- IV Conscious Sedation: Administered intravenously (IV) directly into the bloodstream, this option induces deep relaxation. Patients may fall asleep but will remain conscious and responsive to commands. In most cases, patients will not remember the procedure.
- Oral Conscious Sedation: This sedation is administered as an oral pill or liquid taken before the scheduled appointment. Similar to IV sedation, oral sedation may cause drowsiness, allowing patients to relax or sleep during the procedure.
