How Does Invisalign Work

Many of us want to have straighter teeth, but we don’t want to look ugly especially when those metal brackets and wires show up that is a standard with traditional orthodontic work. This is where Invisalign can be beneficial.

Invisalign aligners are a type of orthodontic appliance that uses invisible aligners instead of metal brackets and wires to straighten your teeth. These are custom-made plastic aligners that gradually shift your teeth in its target position. Each of the trays is manufactured to be slightly straighter than the previous tray. It slowly moves teeth for up to 0.25mm per tray that is why you’ll need a new set every two weeks.

Invisalign Treatment Timeline

The average treatment time for adults is 12 months. However, this will depend on the severity of the case. Treatment time for teens also varies. Your Invisalign provider, Dr. Michael Ayzin will work closely with you and develop an invisalign treatment plan that will fulfill your oral health needs.

Limitations

Invisalign is a great alternative to metal braces since it is almost invisible and does not have metal brackets and wires. But there are cases where traditional braces can work better at correcting the patient’s teeth than Invisalign. Invisalign is only limited to mild and moderate cases and it is not effective for fixing severe cases. Traditional metal braces can work better at treating even the most complex orthodontic case.

Generally, Invisalign adults can treat the following:

  • Mild overbite
  • Crowded teeth
  • Gapped teeth

Once you are eligible for Invisalign, we’ll take records of your teeth including:

  • Digital x-rays
  • Digital scan of your teeth
  • Photographs of your teeth and face

We’ll send these data to the lab along with detailed instructions on the movement of your teeth. Our in-house dentist will use 3D computer imaging technology to provide a treatment plan that will show its initial position up to its final desired position. end these records to the lab with detailed instructions on how your teeth should be moved. Our in-house dentist will use advanced 3D computer imaging technology to develop a treatment plan from its initial position to the final desired position. It will take from four to five weeks for the Invisalign treatment to complete. When the trays arrive at our office, we’ll be ready at straightening your teeth.
