Dental Notation Meaning

Dental practitioners identify teeth when writing about or speaking about them by using dental notation, also known as the ANSI/ADA/ISO Tooth Numbering System. It’s a way to visually record the existence and placement of teeth and link the data to each one of them inside a dentition.

How Many Dental Notations Are There?

There are three frequently used dental notations: the Palmer notation technique, the universal numbering system, and the FDI international dental federation notation (ANSI/ADA/ISO Tooth Numbering System).
